The causes of throat mucosal diseases

Article

I have been working as an ENT specialist for 25 years. The observations I have made to date indicate that my patients seldom complain on the muscle and joint aches if I apply the below listed treatment to mucosal disorders. I have also registered less fluctuation in high blood pressure as well as considerable ease of diabetes. The treatment also helps strengthen the mucous membranes and as a result protects patients regardless of their age against infections of the upper and lower respiratory tracts.

If we can imagine that the oral mucosa is a window that, if not closed or sealed, allows the passage of polluted air we will understand that proper treatment of the oral mucosal diseases plays a crucial role in preventing of aging and cancer. Proper treatment of mucosal diseases requires supplementing our daily diet with missing ingredients while eliminating excess of food.

The oral mucosal disorders include among others grunting, recurrent hoarse sounding voice, voice disorders, blocked nose and/or throat in the morning, clogged throat and larynx, nasal, throat and larynx dryness, oral disorders due to prolonged speech or due to changes in the environmental temperature and other environmental factors.

The below listed recommendations also help in asthma, chronic bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and allergy. They can also help treat dry eye visual disturbance and oral aphthous stomatitis as well. Oral aphthous stomatitis is a mucosal disease, which is believed to be caused by mycosis. Mycosis is intensified by sugars e.g. honey, sugar, milk, and fruits. This disease is also due to allergy, and I have noted that it is caused by diary intolerance and gluten intolerance. Last but not least oral aphthous stomatitis is also due to insufficient level of essential fatty acids e.g. cod-liver oil, linseed oil, yolk, fish, vegetable oil. Dietary fats have been shown to influence blood pressure in humans and in animal models of hypertension.

Chronic mucosal diseases cause mycosis during radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The below listed recommendations can help treat them. Individuals, whose work involves a great deal of speaking, those who wish to control development of facial wrinkles as well as those, who suffer from chronic stomach disorders, should accept the below recommendations too.

The basic principle is to never eat if you are not hungry. Whatever you eat without pleasure or in response to an emotional upset hurts you.

The basic corrective steps in the treatment of the nose, throat and larynx mucosal diseases are as follows:

1. Make sure you are getting enough essential fatty acids including cod-liver oil, linseed oil, egg-yolk, fish, vegetable oil or seafood. I also recommend an egg-yolk broth. Opera singers often eat an egg-yolk broth as well as bacon for a better voice. If you like bacon remember to not eat smoked bacon. Smoked foods are very harmful to you. Those who avoid fats have imbalance of essential fatty acids, which are necessary for the construction of the cellular membranes of new cells.

2. Make sure you are getting enough of iodine. Doctors administer different preparations containing iodine. For example three tablespoons of 3% Kali Jodati solution will saturate the thyroid for as long as three months. Doctors usually recommend that throat be treated with a light brush to put iodine in the throat. If your doctor recommends a thyroid scan or TSH to help evaluate thyroid make sure to perform the scan no earlier than 2 months after iodine treatment. Iodine is an integral part of the thyroid hormones. It accelerates wound healing and it is allowed to administer thyroid hormones to heal wounds. Nevertheless only natural iodine contained in fish, seafood, cod-liver oil and algae, is the most desirable for high performance of the oral mucous membrane. A stay at the sea or intake of iodized salt alone is usually too little to maintain the correct level of iodine. Individuals who suffer from chronic stomach disorders do not tolerate iodine-in-water solutions. To reduce side effects they need to apply most, if not all, of the recommendations listed here.

3. Make sure you are getting enough of vitamin A in the form of carotenoids. Carotenoids are contained in the red, orange, yellow and green vegetables. You may eat them with fat or in fat-free meals as you like, but as carotenoids are soluble in fats it is recommended to eat them with fat. Experienced ETN specialists recommend to eat carrots with butter, or carrot soup with butter to regenerate the oral mucosa. Instead of carrot you may prefer lecho, green, yellow and red vegetables with fat or without fat, or vegetable soup. The carotene in green vegetables is covered with green pigments and it is visible only when chlorophyll disappears in the fall, when leaves and plants get yellow. Diary contains vitamin A but only high-fat dairy contains the most of vitamin A. Please note that nonfat dairy products activate pentose phosphate pathway of carbohydrate metabolism, and they are very bad for mucosa of the upper respiratory tract if we eat them every day or for a prolonged period of time.

4. Make sure you are getting enough of vitamin E. Vitamin E is present mainly in virgin oil. Oil that is extracted with chemical solvents contains less vitamin E. Such oil may contain even 70% less vitamin E compared to virgin oil. Animal products e.g. fat, lard, butter, flesh also contain vitamin E. Both vitamin E and vitamin A are soluble with fat, thus a low fat diet reduces intake of both.

5. Eat lard and clarified butter. They do not hurt the throat as bread alone does. A tablespoon of the cod-liver oil has the same effect on the throat as lard and clarified butter. Also vitamins A and E are protective and vital for cancer prevention. The enzyme which synthesizes fatty acids is hyperactive in most cancer cells probably due to low fat diet. Concluding, we need a fat diet to reduce production of the enzyme as well as to reduce appetite for carbohydrates.

6. Eat red, yellow, orange and green vegetables because they contain antioxidants. Eat low carb fruits, as they are friendly for the stomach lining and the upper and lower respiratory tracts. Drink blueberry or blackberry cocktails, which contain antioxidants too. However, be aware that they are not always mucosa friendly. The older you are, or the more severe mucosal disease is, the less you will tolerate fruits.

7. Use passive and active immunizing agents. You can find them in aloe, and mucus-producing herbs like Mallow, Mallard Petasites, Mother-of-thyme, Anise, Licorice, Ipecacuanha, Potentilla, Vilcacora, Echinacea, Filipendula ulmaria, Harpagophytum procumbens, Petroleum D5, extract from marine algae, and Szostakowski Balm. Use also cod-liver ointment, clarified butter and vegetable oil and drops for nasal passages. Many of the oil nose drops contain vitamin A and canola oil.

However the above listed agents may be of little help if you eat too much foods that damage mucosa. They are listed below:

1. Sugars e.g. sugar, honey, sweet fruits, and milk. It is recommended to eat only half of an apple a day. It is also recommended to remove sugars from everyday diet at all.

2.Excessive amount of carbohydrates. The above recommended saturated and unsaturated fats help reduce the appetite for carbohydrates. If you do not like lard you may try clarified butter, cod-liver oil, linseed oil or other oil twice a day. Six to seven tablespoons of oil daily makes fat the main material for getting energy and for building new mucosa. The mucosa membranes consist mainly of lipid bilayers that regulate what enters and exits the cell. The lipid membrane surrounds each cell, and it also surrounds the nucleus, lysosomes, the Golgi apparatus, and each of several hundred mitochondria cells. Ribosomes are also attached to the face of the lipid membrane. Each cell consists of 35-45% of phospholipids and cholesterol. For more information on this you may wish to refer to my book “Dieta optymalna, co powinniśmy jadać a czego powinniśmy unikać”.

Learn how to control daily intake of carbohydrates. For example a diet, which uses fats as the main material for getting energy removes appetite for excessive amount of carbohydrates [Optimal Diet by Kwasniewski M.D]. You may ask why it is so important to reduce a high intake of carbohydrates. It is so important because the more carbohydrates your diet includes, the more active becomes the metabolic route, which is responsible for the development of cancer cells and over-production of antibodies, which occur in allergy and autoimmunity.

Potatoes with lard or clarified butter are very helpful for the mucosa and may be fed even to 6-month-old babies.

3. Intolerants and intolerance. The most harmful is gluten contained in rye, wheat, oat or barley. I often register an increase of mucosal disorders in patients, who eat dark bread every day. My observations have confirmed that the oral mucosa in patients with mucosal diseases becomes light and clean as soon as three day after they have switched to white bread. The oral mucosa has sometimes been described as a mirror that reflects the health of the individual. Switching from dark bread to white bread has beneficial effects on the rest of the gastrointestinal tract as well.

What I have noticed is that whole grain bread not only causes grunting but it also hurts stomach, liver and pancreas. Besides, it causes bloating of the small intestine and increases intestine syndrome. The whole grain bread must be excluded from diet in ulcerative colitis and in colon cancer.

Good Foods Diet helps recover from mucosal inflammation fast and permanently. Although a gluten-free diet helps improve the lining it takes much more time because this sort of a diet increases appetite for carbohydrates. Point 2 describes the most effective method to control this issue. To turn to a low carbohydrate diet we may need to follow the children, who eat only the foods that they instinctively enjoy. Children very often prefer to eat eggs, meat, chicken, soup just without bread.

4. Sweeteners, preservatives and smoked foods.

5. Lactose intolerance. Although diary products contain vitamin A, mucosa do nottolerate milk protein well. Overproduction of IgG antibodies may be tested with Food Detective test available at www.omegadiagnostics.com and www.camnutri.com. It is important to know that regular intake of dairy products results in excessive intake of carbohydrates. Dairy products activate gluconeogenesis routs - glucose synthesis and turnover rout - pentose phosphate. Dairy products cause allergy e.g. IgE production. They increase the number of blood cells called eosinophiles, and they also cause intolerance e.g. IgG production tested with Food Detective and MRT test, in the same way they cause duodenal and gastric ulcer [Prof. Romański „Alergologia dla internistów”]. Allergists often observe that yogurt, cottage cheese and buttermilk increase grunting. The less fat dairy products contain the more harmful they are for mucosa. In this case fat, as energy does not hurt mucosa. What hurts is protein and lactose. So sour cream is better than cottage cheese. Some patients complain that even butter makes them grunt, and it sometimes gives them a stinging sensation to the lips or dries mucosa and makes them thirsty. However doctors usually do not recommend them rotate dairy products although such symptoms are as harmful for the entire gastrointestinal tract as they are for the oral mucosa. Although dairy products should contain more fat to be less harmful only rotation of diary products may protect against allergy and help cure food intolerance.

Please note that to recover from a mucosal disease it is necessary not only to rotate diary products but also to remove them form a diet if the disease is related to dairy products. The assumption is that the number of antibodies decreases month by month accordingly to the decreasing number of symptoms caused by milk.

6. Citrus fruits. You should be aware that even a slice of lemon everyday might severely destroy the fragile mucosa. In the diagnosis and treatment of the above listed disorders I recommend to use a mono-diet, and to monitor what food gives you the feeling of dryness, makes you grunt, or makes you thirsty. It appears that mucosal disorders often appear after intake of cottage cheese, yogurt and dark bread. Patients often say that fruits cause a sensation of a scratchy feeling at the back of the throat. In short, citrus fruits are hardly good for health as they increase laryngeal and pharyngeal symptoms. Symptoms of mucosal disorders often appear along with constipation. Constipation is a disorder caused by dryness in the distal part of the digestive system. In case of constipation physicians trained in pediatrics recommend less dairy and more vegetables including vegetable soup, while physicians trained in internal medicine recommend a diet with less gluten. Both recommendations are similar to my advice regarding treatment of mucosal diseases that affect both the initial section of the digestive tract, and the respiratory tract as well.

Mucosal diseases often accompany anemia. Rotation of dairy, which does not contain ferrum, often cures anemia. I observe improvement on the seventh day of dairy rotation diet if dairy products have been identified the cause of mucosal disorders. Dairy products also cause leaky gut syndrome, which is a mucosal disorder that affects the entire alimentary tract.

For example if the bowel lumen for divalent ions absorbs calcium from cottage cheese it cannot transport iron from other foods. Gluten foods do not contain iron at all. Personally I am against eating all whole grain corn gluten frequently because it does not contain vitamins A, E and C which are basic antioxidants. It does not contain iodide either. Crude corn products contain phytic acid, which hampers absorption of calcium, magnesium, and iron, and zinc [Harper, Biochemistry] what may increase osteoporosis, cramps, muscle aches, and anemia as well as dermatological events due to lack of iron.

Mucosal disorders are frequent in spontaneous hypertension and diabetes. Decreasein daily intake of carbohydrates, whole grain gluten products in particular and dairy products as well as increased intake of vegetables and fat not only cures mucosa but also reduces hypertension and diabetes.

Good Foods Diet helps remove spontaneous hypertension as quickly as in three days’ time. Apart from the above physical aspects we need to pay attention to the patency of nose, which nasal polyps or nasal septum deviation may affect. A low-carbohydrates diet may also effectively remove bacterial infection of the tonsils too. In general, a well-balanced diet combined with reduced intake of harmful foods will result in healthy mucosa that will be resistant to external factors including cigarette smoke, dust and other pollutants. Healthy mucosa also protects us against food that sometimes happens to be too cold, too sour, too salty, or too hot.

All symptom listed at the beginning usually disappear, or at least decrease, on the fourth day of Good Foods Diet provided we eat less fruits and gluten, and eat more fat and vegetables.

Closing, I would like to stress that what is friendly for the lower and upper respiratory tracts lining helps the blood vessels and in consequence the internal organs, joints and muscles as well.
